Good Morning All Saints’ Family,

It was another busy weekend at All Saints’. Friday evening was the third All Saints’ Major Tom Coffee House. It was a wonderful evening of music and poetry with great fun and fellowship. There were 50 people in attendance, so our advertising and use of social media has worked! Please join us for our next Coffee House on Saturday, September 15th.

Sunday morning was overcast and cool. There were 12 people in attendance at the 8:00 AM service and 61 people at the 10:00 AM service. It was the Thirteenth Sunday After Pentecost. The Processional Hymn was, “When Morning Gilds The Skies” and the Sequence Hymn was, “I Want To Walk As A Child OF The Light.” The Gospel Reading was from John 6:51-58.

Jesus said, “I am the living bread that came down from heaven. Whoever eats of this bread will live forever; and the bread that I will give for the life of the world is my flesh.”

The Jews then disputed among themselves, saying, “How can this man give us his flesh to eat?” So Jesus said to them, “Very truly, I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. Those who eat my flesh and drink my blood have eternal life, and I will raise them up on the last day; for my flesh is true food and my blood is true drink. Those who eat my flesh and drink my blood abide in me, and I in them. Just as the living Father sent me, and I live because of the Father, so whoever eats me will live because of me. This is the bread that came down from heaven, not like that which your ancestors ate, and they died. But the one who eats this bread will live forever.”

We learn from this passage of Jesus explaining that he is the living bread and that by eating his flesh we will live forever. This is disputed by the Jews and he tells them that unless you eat the flesh and drink the blood, that one will have no life in them. This is the premise of our belief and if we continue this and follow Jesus’ teachings, we will have eternal life. The Offertory Hymn was, “Let Thy Blood In Mercy Poured” and the Communion Hymn was, “I Am The Bread Of Life.” The Recessional Hymn was, “God Of Grace And God Of Glory.”

The Coffee Hour was bursting with laughter and energy as our parishioners caught up with each other. The Coffee Hour was hosted by Jack Oshier. There were bagels, cake and cookies for all to enjoy with their favorite beverage. It was an outstanding weekend at All Saints’!
