Good Morning All Saints’ Family,
It was another busy weekend for All Saints’. Saturday the “All Saints’ Angels” participated for their ninth year in the Relay for Life of Bayside. It was held at the Bayside High School Athletic Field and it was a beautiful day. Thank you to all who made donations and who came and participated. The team raised $4,459.00, which is the best we have done! Also on Saturday, our Confirmation class had a retreat at church.
Sunday morning was overcast and warm. There were 11 people at the 8:00 am service and 49 in attendance at the 10:00 am service. It was the Seventh Sunday Of Easter:The Sunday After The Ascension. The Processional Hymn was, “Hail The Day That Sees Him Rise” and the Sequence Hymn was, “See The Conqueror Mounts In Triumph.” The Gospel Reading was from Luke 24:44-53.
Jesus prayed for his disciples, and then he said. "I ask not only on behalf of these, but also on behalf of those who will believe in me through their word, that they may all be one. As you, Father, are in me and I am in you, may they also be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me. The glory that you have given me I have given them, so that they may be one, as we are one, I in them and you in me, that they may become completely one, so that the world may know that you have sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me. Father, I desire that those also, whom you have given me, may be with me where I am, to see my glory, which you have given me because you loved me before the foundation of the world.
"Righteous Father, the world does not know you, but I know you; and these know that you have sent me. I made your name known to them, and I will make it known, so that the love with which you have loved me may be in them, and I in them."
We learn from this passage of Jesus telling the disciples what was written about him was fulfilled and that they are witnesses to what happened. He journeyed with them to Bethany and blessed them, as he ascended to heaven. The disciples then returned to Jerusalem and continued to bless God. The Offertory Anthem was, “The Heavens Are Telling.” The Communion Hymns were, “O Lord Most High, Eternal King” and “When Christ Was Lifted From The Earth.” The Recessional Hymn was, “The Head That Once Was Crowned With Thorns.”
The altar flowers were given by Michael and Shirley DellaVecchia to the glory of God and in celebration of the graduation of their granddaughter, Chiara Michelle Osborne, from The Mary Louis Academy.
Deanery Pentecost Celebration and Confirmation
Next Sunday, June 9 is an important Sunday for All Saints’. We will be hosting our sister parishes for the annual combined Pentecost service, and will be hosting Bishop Provenzano who will be with us to celebrate, to preach and to confirm the class of 2019. There will be only one service next Sunday so that we can join together for worship and fellowship. Following the 10:00 am service, there will be a picnic lunch to celebrate the day and our confirmands. WE NEED YOUR HELP! Please sign up to bring food to share. (Due to the logistical difficulties, lunch will NOT be a barbecue.)
