Good Morning All Saints’ Family,

Sunday morning was overcast and cool. There were 13 people at the 8:00 AM service and 55 in attendance at the 10:00 AM service. It was the Seventh Sunday Of Easter:The Sunday After The Ascension, the UTO Spring Ingathering and Mother’s Day. The Processional Hymn was, “Hail The Day That Sees Him Rise” and the Sequence Hymn was, “See The Conqueror Mounts In Triumph.” The Gospel Reading was from Luke 24:44-53.

As the Father has loved me, so I have loved you; abide in my love. If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and abide in his love. I have said these things to you so that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be complete.

Then he said to them, “These are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you, that everything written about me in the law of Moses and the prophets and the psalms must be fulfilled.” Then he opened their minds so they could understand the scriptures, and said to them, “Thus it stands written that the Christ would suffer and would rise from the dead on the third day, and repentance for the forgiveness of sins would be proclaimed in his name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem. You are witnesses of these things. And look, I am sending you what my Father promised. But stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high.”

Then Jesus led them out as far as Bethany, and lifting up his hands, he blessed them. Now during the blessing he departed and was taken up into heaven. So they worshiped him and returned to Jerusalem with great joy, and were continually in the temple courts blessing God.

We learn from this passage of Jesus speaking to the disciples and reiterating to them what was to be fulfilled by him according to the law. He then blesses them and then ascends to his heavenly home. The disciples then continue the teachings of Jesus and worship him, just as we do today. It is our mission to spread the Good News to all. The Offertory Anthem was, “The Heavens Are Telling.” The Communion Hymns were, “Draw Nigh And Take The Body Of The Lord” and “When Christ Was Lifted From The Earth.” The Recessional Hymn was, “The Head That Once Was Crowned With Thorns.” A big thank you to the Altar Guild for their gift of geraniums to all the moms for Mother’s Day!

The altar flowers were given by Rose Lynch to the glory of God and in celebration of Alexandria C. Lynch. The Sancturary Lamp was given by Rose Lynch to the glory of God and in loving memeory of Clyde Lynch. The Vigil Lamp was given by Kem and Peter Rutledge to the glory of God and in celebration of Mac Rutledge’s birthday. The bread and wine of the Eucharist were given by Sally Bergmeyer to the glory of God and in loving memory of Eva Louise Johnson and Marie L. Bergmeyer.

The Coffee Hour was full of chatter and laughter as our parishioners caught up with each and wished all the moms a Happy Mother’s Day. The Coffee Hour was hosted by Olive Demetrius and Susan Parfrey. There were brownies, cakes, cookies and cupcakes for all to enjoy with their coffee and tea. It was another wonderful Sunday at All Saints’!
