The Ramsay Report

November 16, 2015

Sunday was another beautiful sunny and cool morning.  There were 8 people at the 8:00 AM service and 65 in attendance at the 10:00 AM service. It was the Twenty Fifth Sunday After Pentecost.  The Processional Hymn was, “He Who Would Valiant Be” and the Sequence Hymn was, “Lord Christ, When First Thou Cam’st To Men.”  The Gospel Reading was from Mark 13:1-8. As Jesus came out of the temple, one of his disciples said to him, “Look, Teacher, what large stones and what large buildings!” Then Jesus asked him, “Do you see these great buildings? Not one stone will be left here upon another; all will be thrown down.” When he was sitting on the Mount of Olives opposite the temple, Peter, James, John and Andrew asked him privately, “Tell us, when will this be, and what will be the sign that all these things are about to be accomplished?” Then Jesus began to say to them, “Beware that no one leads you astray. Many will come in my name and say, ‘I am he!” and they will lead many astray. When you hear of wars and rumors of wars, do not be alarmed; this must take place, but the end still to come. For nation will rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom; there will be earthquakes in various places; there will be famines. This is but the beginning of the birthpangs.” We learn from this passage of what will come when Jesus is gone and that the disciples should not be lead astray by false prophets, but that the end will come eventually.  The Offertory Anthem was, “Great Is Thy Faithfulness.”  The Communion Hymns were, “Father, We Thank Thee Who Has Planted” and “Thy Kingdom Come, On Bended Knee.”  The Recessional Hymn was, “Oh What Their Joy And Their Gladness Must Be.”

The Coffee Hour was filled with energy, as our parishioners greeted one and other and caught up from the past week’s events.  The Coffee Hour was hosted by “Amana” and there was cakes and muffins for all to enjoy with their coffee and tea.  Meanwhile, in the Choir Room, our young people were practicing their music for the Christmas Pageant.
