The Ramsay Report

April 2, 2018

It was a very busy Holy Week at All Saints’. Tuesday evening was our Tenabrae service, followed on Wednesday with our Holy Eucharist and Healing service and choir rehearsal that evening. Maundy Thursday began with the Agape Supper with our friends from St. John’s, followed by the service and the stripping of the altar. The vigil in the garden began after the service and youth group had their Lock-In. Good Friday morning was the “Mini Retreat” and parishioners and friends gathered to transform the Common Room hallway into the depiction of the Jesus’ path during Holy Week and then the Stations of the Cross were done, followed by the Good Friday Liturgy in the afternoon and evening. Holy Saturday many parishioners and the Altar Guild showed and cleaned up the grounds outside and transformed the inside for Easter. The Great Vigil of Easter was held on Saturday evening, followed by a wonderful reception in the Common Room. It was a very beautiful and meaningful week at All Saints’.

Sunday morning was overcast and cool. There were 23 people at the 8:00 am service and 128 in attendance at the 10:00 am service. It was The Resurrection Of Our Lord, Easter Day. The Processional Hymn was, “Jesus Christ Is Risen Today” with a figure eight procession and the Gradual Hymn between the Lessons was, “Christ The Lord Is Risen Today.  The Sequence Hymn was, “Come, Ye Faithful, Raise The Strain.”  The Gospel Reading was from John 20:1-18 (see attached).  We learn from this passage, the Resurrection of our dear Lord Jesus Christ. He has Risen from the tomb, as the scripture said, and reveals himself to Mary Magdelene, who then goes to the disciples and tells them this, as she is instructed by Jesus. The Offertory Anthem was, “Cantique de Jean Racine.” The Communion Hymns were, “The Strife Is O’er The Battle Done”, “Alleluia, Alleluia! Give Thanks To The Risen Lord”, “That Easter Day With Joy Was Bright”, and “Seek Ye First.” The Recessional Hymn was, “Welcome Happy Morning.”

The Easter Flowers were given by parishioners to the glory of God and in memory and celebration (see attached list). The Sanctuary Lamp was given to the glory of God and in celebration of Jeanine Carroll’s birthday. The bread and wine of the Eucharist were given by Claudia Hajian to the glory of God and in celebration of the Risen Christ.

The Coffee Hour was loud and wonderful and our parishioners and guests greeted one another on the joyous Easter morning. The children were busy outside in the backyard participating in the Easter Egg Hunt and had a grand time!  The Coffee Hour was hosted by several parishioners and there were bagels, candy, cookies, cold cuts, pastries, rolls and salads for all to enjoy. It was a beautiful and joyous Easter Day at All Saints’!  Alleluia! Alleluia!

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! to the Altar Guild, our Acolytes, The Ushers, The St. Cecilia Choir, Arkady Leytush, all our parishioners and to Father Byrne for all the hard work and dedication shown during Holy Week and Easter Day to make it a blessed, meaningful and joyous time at All Saints’!!!

Have a great week and hope to see you all next Sunday!
